Field Trip to Matuu

Yesterday we took a road trip to Matuu to meet with one of our NGO partners.  Matuu is about an hour and a half outside of Nairobi, so we had a lot of time in the car.  I took some pictures during the trip so that you can all see what rural Kenya looks like - at least the space between Matuu and Nairobi.  Kenya has a wide variety of ecological zones (one of the reasons that the work we’re doing is so important), but this particular piece is very beautiful and lush, especially this season, as there has been good rainfall.
The roads are *usually* of good quality, and you pass through a lot of small towns.  You learn to watch out for the “sleeping policeman”, which is what the speed bumps are commonly called - they seem to pop up out of nowhere.  There are a lot of small farms with a variety of crops - maize, pineapples, bananas, and coffee are just a few examples.
Car rides are fun when there is a lot to see!
